WEST END LIVE 2023 | SAT 17TH | MY THOUGHTS

We had the absolute pleasure of attending West End LIVE in Trafalgar Square on Saturday 17th.

It was my first ever time at West End live and I had the most incredible day.

Our Hosts for the day, Tim Mahendran and Hiba Elchike brought a fantastic energy, getting the crowd hyped up before each wonderful performance and giving us heat reminders throughout the day to keep drinking water (which was very necessary) and I've walked away with a lovely sun-burnt red tint to my skin - KEEP APPLYING SUNSCREEN!!!

There were so many fantastic performances throughout the day from a Wide range of shows.

Jamie Muscato's 'El Tango de Roxanne' was mind-blowing. Incredible performance from the casts of Cabaret and Grease. Wicked and Wizard of Oz were filled with magnificent vocals and Jersey Boys was a real crowd pleaser having the crowd dancing and singing along at the top of their lungs.

Joel Montague as King George III payed a visit and sang 'You'll Be Back' just before the Red Arrows along with the trooping of the colour flew overhead in honour of His Majesty King Charles III's Birthday!

Mamma Mia was another having the whole audience dancing away. Shows such as SIX were audience-favourites bringing 'Haus of Holbein' and a new version of 'Heart of Stone' beautifully sang by Leah Vassel.

We also had the opportunity to see some magnificent upcoming musicals such as Then, Now & Next, and Lizzie the Musical with OUSTANDING vocals from Lauren Drew and Shekinah McFarlane.

Tim Minchin closed the performance, whose performance had the whole audience singing along to 'When I grow up' from Matilda. Minchin will forever be a legend and his performance was just fabulous.

Overall West End Live is such a must-see for any Musical Theatre Fan - I do understand the logistics of queuing from 4am are very difficult for people hence a lot of people did not get into this years event, however if it is possible you must give it a shot!! TOP TIPS:

Sunscreen - APPLY REGULARLY... don't make the mistake I did - or you'll burn to a crisp.

Drinks! - We brought a cooler bag full of freezing cold water which was perfect and they remained cool all day. The bag can go by your feet where you stand so do not worry about it!

ENJOY IT! You are with a crowd of people who love the same things as you, make the most of the wonderful experience seeing all of your theatre favourites! Robbie Davies | Robbie's Backstage Bants
