SISTERS, THE REVIEWS ARE IN! | SISTER ACT UK TOUR REVIEW

Last Night (20/06/23) , We had a blast, attending the regional Press Night of 'Sister Act' at Newcastle Theatre Royal. The evening was filled with dazzling costumes, glorious vocals and hilarious comedic moments leaving us dancing and clapping along by the end.

The production as a whole is heavenly! Set design, Costume, Choreography tied with some of the UK's strongest performers was sure to make this a hit, however, I truly found this piece to be magnificent.

Lesley Joseph takes on the role of Mother Superior, and from the very beginning of the show she had the audience in stitches. Her fantastic character shone through and gave an ultimately divine performance! Lesley Joseph is no stranger to comedy... and that definitely shows in this musical!

Sandra Marvin (Eastenders, Waitress) steps in to the HUGE Heeled BOOTS of Deloris Van Cartier, and WOW! Marvin's performance was second to 'NUN'! Her vocals excelled with renditions of 'Take me to Heaven' and 'Raise Your Voice' brought the stunning score to life with marvelous energy and her comedic moments landed well and had the audience howling with laughter.

The role of Sister Mary Roberts is played by West End Star: Lizzie Bea. Bea's stunning vocal performance of 'The Life I Never Led' was truly outstanding and her shy, timid character portray her role perfectly and Bea has a wonderful way of doing this - like no other!

Officer 'Steady' Eddie Souther was played by the incredible Alfie Parker. We LOVED Alfie's performance. 'I Could Be That Guy' was both beautifully sung and hilariously performed with fabulous tear-away costumes and exciting choreography to enhance Alfie Parker's acting through song WIZARDRY!

Other standout performances within include: Bradley Judge's scene stealing performance as 'TJ' having the audience almost rolling in the eyes and giving each number every ounce of his energy. and Anne Smith as the hilarious 'Sister Mary Lazarus' who sure as hell (can I say 'hell' in a review about a convent...?) can rap!

The whole company deserves a mention for this production as everybody contributes so much to making this a truly 5 star production of an already well-loved Musical comedy but unfortunately I would be writing this review until next week!

Overall, This is a Joyous, Glorious and Heavenly production which is absolutely FABULOUS BABY!!
