Rocky Horror: “a guaranteed great night out!” - UK TOUR REVIEW *****

Last night, I had the pleasure of viewing the Touring production of the Rocky Horror Show at York Grand Opera House, for their press night.

The show as a whole was amazing! From the moment the overture began you could feel the electric energy of the show running through the auditorium. The eruption of cheers and applause at the entrance of every character convinces me that everyone else loved it just as much as I did.

Strictly winner Ore Oduba takes on the role of Brad Majors, playing it sensibly and staying true to his character. Ore’s performance of "Once in a while" was beautiful and the audience clearly enjoyed this too, as shown by the rapturous applause!

Brad’s Fiancé - Janet, was played, perfectly, Haley Flaherty who wonderfully carried her character throughout the performance.

Phillip Franks as the narrator was the perfect choice. His ability to respond well to whatever the audience throws at him is wonderful and his comedic timing is impeccable, making for lots of laughs.

Stephen Webb’s performance as Frank N Furter was incredible, playing the character so true to the original yet keeping room for his own personal flare. Webb’s vocals were amazing, with the audience singing along to Frank’s songs such as “Sweet Transvestite” when the audience erupted into applause one more for the grand entrance of this extravagant character.

Kristian Lavercombe, who tonight plays his 2000th performance as Riff Raff, was incredible. The characterisation of the character from his voice to his walk was mastered by Lavercombe and he was most certainly a favourite of the audience.

The other performers, Joe Allen, Lauren Ingram, Suzie McAdam, Ben Westhead, Reece Budin, Darcy Finden, Jordan Fox and Rachel Grundy also worked extremely hard to give an energy filled, fun, exciting performance.

The set and lighting helped to immerse us in the world of these crazy characters and the costumes were wonderfully designed to bring those characters to life.

Overall, If you haven’t seen this show - you must go! It is a guaranteed great night out with lots of fun, laughter and audience partici…pation!
