Another show I had the pleasure of seeing whilst in London was Matilda at the matinee performance on the 8th May at the Cambridge Theatre.
Matilda is such a fun show to watch and each and every cast member gave their all to bring a wonderful and energetic performance.
Tilly-Raye Bayer took on the title role of ‘Matilda’. Her performance was wonderful to watch and she has a lovely singing voice. Her characterisation was stunning for such a young performer, so this was fabulous to watch.
The rest of the cast of children were all also very talented - I was blown away by them all, I had the pleasure of seeing the following children in the show: Aydin Ahmed as Bruce, Bren Reilly as Lavender, Rafferty Ison as Nigel, Gracie Hodson-Prior as Amanda, Thommy Bailey Vine as Eric, Beth Gilmour as Alice, Rosie Gell-Marquez as Hortensia and Hari Aggarwal as Tommy. Each and every single one of these young performers stood out and gave a fantastic performance.
Miss Honey was played by Carly Thoms who gave a lovely heartfelt performance of her character. Well contrasted by the hilariously horrid Miss Trunchbull - played by Elliot Harper, who gave an outstanding performance of the villain we love to hate and left me in fits of laughter.
Another two standout performances for me were Roger Dipper and Marianne Benedict playing the roles of Mr & Mrs Wormwood respectively. They both gave so much energy and comedy into their awful but funny characters and were a great pairing onstage!
The show as a whole had gorgeous set design by Rob Howell, stunning lighting design by Hugh Vanstone and exciting choreography by Peter Darling.
The magic in this show and other effects and tricks were all totally mind blowing and definitely another reason to see the show.
I think this show is a must-see especially to take younger children to if they are a fan of the original story by Roald Dahl. You can catch Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre and tickets are available from http://uk.matildathemusical.com/tickets/tickets/
Thank you for reading my thoughts.
