Yesterday, I attended the two shows of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ at London’s Palace Theatre.
This show blew me away from so many angles. The whole excitement comes along with the secrets of the show and therefore you won’t be seeing any spoilers - only high praise for this wonderful production.
From the very opening you are transported into the much loved and celebrated wizarding world of Harry Potter. Along the way we meet so many familiar characters that brings joy to the face and laugh along to references that only a full room of potter-heads would ever understand.
The magic was a sight to behold. Every other moment in the play was another clever and exciting magic trick , whether it was done by a spell, a potion or just a stage exit, each and every single one made the entire audience gasp in disbelief and I believe that is when you know you have done the magic correctly.
The cast was made up of some outstanding performers. Scorpious Malfoy played by Adam Wadsworth was an exciting and hilarious portrayal, he made for a very lovable malfoy and the audience certainly thought so too.
Leading alongside Wadsworth was Thomas Grant playing Harry’s Son - Albus Severus Potter. Grant brought both comedy and raw emotion to this complex role and created an interesting character which us as an audience were lucky enough to watch grow over the two parts of the show.
The “golden trio’ of Harry, Ron and Hermione were played by Sam Crane, Thomas Alridge and Michelle Gayle - all of whom brought both the charm and nostalgia from those characters we all know and love but also brought new elements and sides to them that we get to see exclusively in the stage show!
Those mentions do not include the entire company whom I would have loved to sit and list (However, I’m back out for another 2 show day today!) but the entire cast all work together to make this show seem like a Magical dream, and If you’re a Harry Potter fan, big or small, I would absolutely recommend you go to this show immediately - in fact, use the ‘floo network’ and you can catch it today!
