Last Night (24/04/23), I was invited to attend the regional Press Night of The Rocky Horror Show at the Stockton Globe.
From entering the beautiful Stockton Globe theatre, it was wonderful to see so many people in costumes that must have taken forever to make! Everybody looked wonderful and It did leave me wondering who I could dress up as next time I see the show…. Hmmm
As always with this show, It lived up to every expectation and left the audience up on their feet doing the time-warp one last time.
The show began with the magnificent talent of Suzie McAdam. Her rendition of ‘Science Fiction Double Feature’ had the audience swaying along, and got everyone all excited for what the next 2 hours would entail. Very different from this was Suzie’s fantastic portrayal of Magenta. Her performance was eye-catching and her vocals were on point.
Ore Oduba returns to the role of Brad Majors after 9 months away from the show. After seeing his performance, you would not believe he had any time off whatsoever. Oduba’s vocals were fantastic and he played the character of Brad wonderfully. His fiancee, Janet Weiss was played by Hayley Flaherty, Hayley’s honest portrayal of this role comes naturally and is beautifully presented.
Stephen Webb was an outstanding leading performer, in the role of Frank-N-Furter. Every second that Webb was onstage, you couldn’t help but smile and laugh along. Frank is clearly a fan favourite and Stephen Webb’s portrayal gives him great reason to be.
Kristian Lavercombe is Riff Raff. I am not being lazy with my typing, I mean it. Kristian embodies the role of Riff Raff perfectly and every inch of his characterization is well-thought out and amazingly executed.
Jackie Clune had the audience in stitches playing the narrator. Clune’s quick-wit dealt with audience shout-outs with hilarity. Jackie Clune is the perfect narrator.
Giggles never stopped with Darcy Finden’s bubbly and fun ‘Columbia’. As well as her wonderful character, Finden’s fabulous dance skills were jaw-dropping.
The set, music, costumes and lighting add to the incredible performances by the entire company making this a 5 Star production. I would recommend you to get yourself down to see this production at the earliest opportunity.
It is playing until the 29th April at the Stockton Globe, for those of you in the North East.
